Drawing on research into the history of the Roman Empire in Britain and Roman antiquity, conducted at Ostia, Antica and Pompeii during a six-month residency at the British School at Rome in 2006, Bristol based artist Eamon O'Kane presents new work inspired by Rugby's Roman past and the Tripontium Collection of Roman artefacts. The exhibition will include animations, drawings, paintings and sculptures, and will feature large-scale black and white wall drawings depicting non-indigenous trees that have come to England since the Roman times. Artworks will draw connections between the ancient Roman civilization and contemporary western society using among other things drawings and animations of contemporary housing in Rugby juxtaposed with domestic buildings from the time of the Roman Empire.
